LASER Journal

As part of the LEX26 Conference, we are pleased to invite creative contributions related to your work for the LASER Journal. LASER stands for Linking Art and Science through Education and Research and is an open access journal published by Montclair State University in the United States. Members of the University of Évora and CIMA also serve on the editorial board of the journal. The journal aims to highlight the creativity and beauty of the sciences and is publishes papers at the intersection of art and science. You can learn more about the kinds of general articles accepted by this journal by visiting this website.

For this special issue, we would like to invite participants of the LEX26 conference to submit ‘micro-papers’ (2-3 pages maximum) which contains artistically appealing visualizations (pictures, or other kinds of images, excluding graphs) that capture the beauty of the science you are working on. Specifically, the paper should:

(a) Be at most 3 pages long;

(b) Written as a regular article;

(c) Include

i. a title for the article

ii. an image (to be submitted in png, jpg or tiff format). This image must be your original picture. Images taken from the web or other publications are not acceptable.

iii. a brief Introduction to the science related to the image

iv. a discussion about the artistic aspect of the image as you see it

v. at most five key references

vi. AI generated images are also not acceptable unless your work itself relates to AI and you have been able to generate a relevant image which is also very aesthetically appealing.

Please also note that

(a) All submissions paper will undergo peer review before acceptance;

(b) There are no charges for publishing in the journal

(c) These papers are not meant to be technical works but should specifically highlight the artistic aspect of your research.

Your articles can be emailed to either vaidyaa@montclair.edu or nitab@montclair.edu with the subject title ‘Submission to LASER for LEX26’. In order for us to publish the issue in a timely manner, we ask that you submit your papers by May 1 st, 2027.
